Remember the first time that VHS was released for sale?. It was something like 20 years ago. With the argument for a higher quality than offered by Betamax,  made rich by all Sony and Panasonic massively buying this new player, filling our shelves with video tapes of all kinds.

Then came the DVD as a better option for viewing movies. Had a higher quality and greater storage capacity. And again, a flood of buying DVD players and movies in the new format.

However, this consumer trend is starting to change. And the thing is that something happened during the fight between the HD DVD and Blue-Ray. And a third option emerged: online downloads. Although the idea is still in its baby stages, it is interesting to note that the tendency of people to buy a new reproductive BD is significantly less than occurred in previous years.

1. The DVD is still the king device to display videos. The trend in 2009 is still, on any other player on the list
2. HD DvD may have been dead for over a year, but there are still people in this year that have purchased it. It should be noted that the external reader for Xbox 360 is far below.
3. The loser of this list is just BD, below even the PS3, with 3% of people with one. And only people with annual earnings over $ 50k are mostly bought a player BD

The most interesting of all is that readers BD are below $ 100, so no excuse for their high prices, at least not for the purchasing power of U.S..

Behind the downloads there is a fundamental principle: comfort. Why do we have to get up to buy a movie if I can leave it downloading while quietly doing other activities?.
